Music
Music Aims
At Garvestone, our Music curriculum aims to inspire creativity, self-expression, and a lifelong love of music in all our pupils. We believe that music is a vital part of a broad and balanced education, offering every child the opportunity to develop confidence, collaboration skills, and emotional well-being through musical exploration.
Our aims are to:
- Foster enjoyment and appreciation of music across a range of genres, cultures, and historical periods.
- Provide regular opportunities for all children to perform, compose, and evaluate music, both individually and as part of a group.
- Develop key musical skills, including listening, singing, playing instruments, and understanding musical notation.
- Support the progression of musical understanding from Early Years through to Year 6, ensuring that learning is inclusive, ambitious, and accessible to all.
- Enrich the wider curriculum through cross-curricular links, performances, and extra-curricular opportunities such as choir, instrument clubs, and music festivals.
Through a carefully sequenced and engaging curriculum, we aim to nurture musical talent, celebrate creativity, and ensure every child leaves our school with positive musical experiences and the skills to enjoy music throughout their lives
